Holistic Approach in Eco Design

Design as a form of Meditation?
Design as a form of Meditation?

Currently green home design and eco-design as a whole is concentrated mostly on using sustainable or recycled materials. What we lack is a holistic approach to the subject that would include the influence on a person’s psychological and physical health, his subconscious mind and, if you want to dig deep, even his karma.

In many cases eco-design is too sterile. White colour and unsophisticated shapes prevail whereas the design should be interactive and arousing (in a positive meaning). Tranquillity in a balance with intensity leads to harmony. The home environment is well balanced when it stimulates imagination and personal development of those living inside. The living space should become a platform of self-discovery (especially it concerns kids) and meditation. The wise men say that personal development is the real meaning of the?? life. How does the aesthetic quality of our living space affect the way we develop?

Psychological imageology (also known as Image Psychology) is trying to deal with this question but it is a very new science to the Western world. It studies how colour and shapes influence our life. What is the most important skill of an architect and interior designer? He (she) must be a good psychologist, able to leave own ambitions in the background and concentrate on providing the client with highly personalized and meaningful living space.
