Downsizing to live a greener lifestyle is one of the many approach that people can take. Building tiny houses has become fashionable mainly thanks to the company called Tumbleweed.

Their tiny house concept has proven popular in North America. To elaborate on the idea of downsizing, the Toledo Museum of Art staged an exhibition appropriately named Small Worlds exploring the world of the home, neighbourhood, city and the natural world.

One of the central artefacts in this exhibit was a tiny house Tumbleweed XS (of course, standing for extra small). The house was built using one of the plans that can be bought on Tumbleweed’s website for X with a help of local Toledo builders.

Now the house has been put on sale on Ebay and all the proceeds will go to the fund for childhood art education. You can watch the auction here. So far 29 bidders are competing and it’s been bid up to $24,300.00, which is less than what the house costs when ordered ready-made from the official website. The ready-made price is $38,977 while the DIY price estimate is $16,000 + $99 for the house plan.

Considering the provenance and the good cause behind this sale, it’s quite possible the tiny house will fetch more than its normal sale price.

Ebay is known for attracting bidders to strange auctions. Thus, recently somebody sold an imaginary dog on Ebay UK while a lady in the USA sold a rancid chunk of chicken that looked like the face of George Washington. Strange things do happen.
