Saving Money on Home Insurance

With 5.4 million households in the UK living in fuel poverty and more than a quarter of the active population spending significantly more per month than they earn, it is obvious that certain aspects of life are left to a chance and insurance is one of them.

Unlike the car insurance, not having which would be classified as a crime, having a home insurance is not imperative (although the majority of mortgage companies and banks will require a policy from new home-owners). It was recently found that more than 20% of Brits admit that when it comes to insuring their dwellings and content, they are most likely to give it a miss.

On a contrast, a whopping 80% of the respondents asserted that in an event of a fire or flood damage, they would have no way of replacing their contents. It is hard to imagine but during the years we do accumulate tens of thousands pounds worth of stuff. If a disaster strikes, many people will never get back to the sort of lifestyle they enjoyed before.

Unless they’ve insured everything properly. In an ideal world you’d take out a home insurance policy and another one for contents insurance. Now, it can be rather expensive, but if you split the payment into monthly direct debit payments, it just spreads out and, of course, gives that peace of mind. Mind you, there’s more – you can actually save a lot of money if you take out your policy online and furthermore, there are companies that will offer you free contents insurance with certain types of home insurance policies.
