It’s the time for another dose of scary statistics. I recently came across a study carried out in the USA. They’ve found that in States alone if each household replaced just one roll of traditional paper towel with a recycled paper towel, the country would save 1.4 million trees and 3.7 million cu-ft of landfill space.
As such, this paper consumption statistics sounds really daunting. But wait, there’s more. Switching to recycled paper towels could also save America almost 2 billion litres of clean water.
From the other hand, it is rather difficult to get your hands on recycled paper towels and toilet tissue. Especially here in England. However, if you google for “recycled paper towels” and click on the “shopping” link (near the top of google’s screen) you will get several options of office suppliers. There’s nothing that says a person cannot buy from office suppliers – besides, it also gives you a chance to follow another green tip – buy in bulk.
Recycled paper products are available from some highstreet shops but the prices usually are unattractive to say the least. So, I’d suggest you buy online to save money.
This sound good. How do I know that recycled towels I buy are safe to use. It is made from junk, right?
Jenny, don’t worry. Producing recycled paper involves both heat and (unfortunately) chemicals. So, by the time it reaches your toilet-roll holder, it’s free of all the nasties and germs! 🙂
