Have you seen the Plastiki Mission Control at the National Geographic store. I went there yesterday – it is cool what you can actually do with plastic bottles. The event is on until Sunday, so you can still manage.
The Plastiki Expedition is the project of David de Rothschild, and the goal is to sail 12,000 nautical miles across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco right down to Sydney. Plastiki the boat is made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles and other plastic waste items. Besides raising the awareness and advertising recycling as a way of thinking, they have four scientists on board from the Scripps Research Institute who will study ocean acidification, marine debris, overfishing, and coral bleaching.
Plastiki Mission Control in partnership with HP runs from 14 November to 6 December at the National Geographic Store, 83-97 Regent Street, London W1B 4EW.
