A California-based architect studio Sutton Suzuki Architects has showcased an amazing villa that they’ve built in Hawaii. It’s a magnificent building but the thing that caught my attention was the lounge/diner area.
If you look at the parquet flooring, you’ll see that the elements are in mixed colour – as a result, it is nicely patterned. Funnily, a few decades ago, a parquet flooring would have been classified as “of inferior quality” because everyone was trying to get an even and orderly look. Today, the interior designers have found that random equals fun.
Bu the way, the dark flooring goes perfectly well together with the dark window frames and the rustic ceiling.
This plantation-style, ocean-front villa has a slightly Asian look (you can tell by the elephant). The textures and colours have been chosen to make the house blend better with the landscape.
