Description
A great art investment opportunity. This is an original acrylic painting by a renowned listed artist Tessa Newcomb. Her paintings have been purchased by several famous museums and galleries including Bradford Metropolitan Museum and the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, Strawberry Hill College, London as well as private collections. She’s had regular solo exhibitions since 1977.
Tessa Newcomb is the daughter of another famous artist Mary Newcomb.
She has studied at the Norwich School of Art and Bath Academy of Art. Currently living in Suffolk, her paintings often inclde rural themes and are rooted in the beauty of Suffolk’s nature and scenery.
Most artwork by Tessa Newcomb are small format oil on board or acrylic so this large painting (at least by her usual standards) is quite a rare find. It depicts chicken and a wheelbarrow in her usual hazy, playful, dream-like style.
The interest in Tessa Newcomb paintings has never actually subsided. Even her black and white prints regularly go for over £100 and her larger format acrylic on board paintings go for £2 – £3,000 at private galleries. This Tessa Newcomb original artwork is a great opportunity to invest in art that is only going to appreciate with age.
Frame measures 79cm x 38cm. The painting is glazed. The edges of the board are slightly scruffy but this is the original framing and it’s how it is supposed to be. There is additional info about the painting and the framing on the back of the frame. Painted in 2001.
