These kitchen stools were designed by famous British designer Michael Sodeau.
Michael Sodeau was born in London in 1969. After studying product design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, he graduated in 1994. Inflate was formed by him as a founding partner and in 1997, he established his own design company, Michael Sodeau Partnership, which specializes in creative thinking and simple design solutions.
Michael Sodeau is a multidisciplinary designer who works in many design disciplines. Michael Sodeau’s design vision for easy answers and problem solving includes furniture, lighting, and product concepts for a range of international manufacturers as well as small private makers.
Sodeau has won multiple accolades for his design approach and received several design awards. His work is in collection of many galleries and museums, including the V&A Museum, London.
Apart from his own design studio, he has also created for several other companies, including Modus, Abet, Asplund, Bute, Christopher Farr, E&Y, Gervasoni and Gordon Russell. Michael Sodeau has exhibited internationally and held solo exhibitions in London, New York, Stockholm and Tokyo.
In year 2000 Black Dog Published a book on Michael Sodeau entitled ‘Once upon a line’. The book highlights Sodeau’s interest in visually striking designs paired with a tactility and softness that puts a twist on the starkness of modern product design.
Through his sensual blending of natural materials and contemporary sculptural shapes, Michael Sodeau has become known in the design world. He’s created a collection of furniture including tables, carpets, lamps, and ceramics.
His Satellite side table which used a TV shaped top and a satellite shaped base was a great example of minimalist design.
One of his most famous collaboration is with the Modus furniture brand. Furniture products from the Modus collection have been specified into interior projects worldwide.
The firm’s mission for the past two decades has been to marry the finest of current design with the best quality craftsmanship, producing exquisite furniture with the lightest footprints. Modus furniture can be seen in many high-end office buildings in London and elsewhere.
