The famous French designer Philippe Starck continues to surprise people with his bold designs. His latest outrageous stunt is a theme of urban furniture or outdoor seating thing called Driade. Spanish designer Eugeni Quittlet collaborated on this project. It was first exhibited at the Statale University earlier this month during the Milan’s Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, in Italy.
Although Starck’s designs are always creative and courageous, you cannot really call this functional. Imagine your local council financing installation of a few Driade seats? It would never happen! Simply due to the fact that the huge object only seats two. Watching Starck’s designs is refreshing but, hey, more seating would be helpful or you might get people fighting for the places!
