This green house project is conceived by Iñigo Ortiz Monasterio one of the leading green architects of Mexico. He thinks that Nature is an unbeatable master and it is better to be in harmony than try to split the natural shapes with straight lines and corners.
You won’t find many corners in this classroom of the future. Imagine how good it would mix into the landscape.
Monasterio’s fundamental principles are prefabrication, simplicity, sustainability, low-tech and as much DIY as possible.
This project is called nautilus and the inspiration behind it is a sea-shell. It is really very simple. The foundation is made of reinforced concrete, then it is pine wood and MDF for the structure and polystyrene for insulation.
Well, really, it is not about the materials (by now you all know that I don’t like MDF). It is about the concept – this is the future of architecture – to integrate with the Nature, not outbalance it.

Thanks for the nice post. I always try to bookmark construction or concrete related posts like this one.
Thanks for your comments on my proyect.
The use of MDF is just an option, today I am trying to use playwood in the interior, and fiberglass in the exterior and polystyrene for insulation.
Greetings
Iñigo
